We are pleased to inform you that the Association of Medical Physicist, Ministry of Health Malaysia (PERFEKS) in collaboration with Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) and Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri (JKN) Johor will be organizing the International Conference on Radiation Safety & Security in Healthcare Services 2019 at Johor Darul Takzim, Malaysia.

 

 ‘Towards Better Practices: Achieving Radiation Protection Goals’- Theme of the conference this year that aims to update and refresh the knowledge in radiation safety and security among the medical & medical related staff especially the front liners in the Radiology, Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopaedics and Dental Departments fostering better collaboration among physicians, surgeons, oncologist, radiologist, cardiologist, physicist and paramedics by providing opportunities to present and updates various new technologies and methods that can help improve services to patient while improving the safety of the workers and public.

 

 We have been engaged to lines of expert speakers locally and internationally especially from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). They are pleased to share their expertise with us. There are also papers and poster presentations. Join us.

Mr. Muhammad Khaliq, has been working at IAEA Division of Nuclear Security since Oct. 2011. He is leading a big Section of the Division of Nuclear Security. He has more than 30 years of work experience as a Nuclear Regulator for his country and at IAEA.

Dr. Keiichi Akahane is a President of Japan Society of Medical Physics (JSMP) and board member of Japan Health Physics Society (JHPS), member of Japan Radiological Society (JRS), and member of Japanese Board for Medical Physicist Qualification (JBMP).

 

Currently, he works as a Section Manager of National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS), Japan and also involved in International committee/ organization such as IAEA,  UNSCEAR, ISO, and IOMP.

 

He had great working experience in external dosimetry, medical exposure, dose assessment, charged particle therapy, licensed medical physicist, radiation protection supervisor, environmental health sciences, and radiological health.

 

His recent publications are the impact of eye lens dose limit, Fukushima health management survey; current situations and discussions in Japan in relation to the new occupational equivalent dose limit for the lens of the eye; and organ dose evaluations based on Monte-Carlo simulation for CT examinations using tube current modulation.

David Bradley, Emeritus Professor of the University of Surrey United Kingdom and also Head of the Centre for Radiation Sciences at Sunway University, works in radiation and applied Physics, predominantly in regard to medical application.

 

His work has led to commercial applications, with contributions underpinning the formation of two University spin-out companies, Truelnvivo Ltd in the UK and LumisynsSdn. Bhd. In Malaysia, both developing luminescence systems for medical dosimetry.

 

He is Consulting Editor (previously Editor-In-Chief) of the Elsevier Journals Applied Radiation & Isotopes and Radiation Physics & Chemistry and latterly Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Radiology. He is also President of the International Radiation Physics Society.

Mr Somanesan has been the Senior Principal Radiation Physicist at the Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) for the past 29 years. He holds concurrent appointments as Hospital Radiation Safety Officer; Operations and Quality Assurance Manager at the Cyclotron facility, Positron Tracers Pte Ltd; and Chief of SGH’s Radiation Response team. He is also a Consultant Physicist with the Ministry of Health, Heart Centre Singapore, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Sengkang Health and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Mr Bazli bin Sapiin is a Director of Medical Suveillance Department, Ministry of Health Malaysia. He graduated from University of Malaya with BSc of Physics and completed his Master in Medical Physics. Currently, he is a member of Safety Technical Committee, AELB. Previously, he had involved in several technical committee such as member of technical group on medical, SIRIM, National committee on certification of Radiation Protection Officer (RPO), and member of USM Industry Advisory Panel. He also had fellowship awards from World Health Organization (WHO) on Radiation Safety and Quality Control In Interventional Radiology, and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Radiation Safety and Diagnostic Quality Control Measurements.

Hafizah is a Senior Physicist currently working at Radiotherapy & Oncology Department, National Cancer Institute (NCI), Putrajaya. Previously she had experienced in regulatory particularly on radiation protection when she works at Terengganu State Department (2006 – 2009). She then being transferred to Head Quarters, Ministry of Health since 2009 – 2013. To date, her interest are dosimetry and quality assurance in radiotherapy; development of radiotherapy treatment planning and optimization.

 

She also involved directly with brachytherapy prostate seed implant procedure with other specialist in NCI.

Currently he is a lecturer of medical physics in the School of Medical Sciences, UniversitiSains Malaysia (USM). His work includes teaching, research and medical physics services to the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy & Oncology, and Hospital USM.

 

He is also involved as Evaluation Panel member for the Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) in 2012. Acting as Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) for his department. Besides, he is actively involved as Member of the Hospital SUM Radiation Protection Committee.

 

For international participation, he is appointed as Supervisor in the Malaysia Ministry of Health Distance Assisted Training (DAT) for Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Datuk Dr.Alzamani Mohammad Idrose is currently a Consultant Emergency Physician from Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and a council member for the College of Emergency Physicians. He graduated from University of Malaya with MBBS and completed his Master of Medicine(Emergency) from USM, Master in Information Technology Management(MITM) from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak and European Master in Disaster Medicine (EMDM) from University of Eastern, Piedmonte in Italy.

 

He also completed a law degree - Bachelor of Jurisprudence (External Programme) from University of Malaya. Apart from being a clinician at his department, he is currently appointed as the Royal Physician for His Royal Highness the Agong of Malaysia. He has produced more than 200 scientific papers and published in local and international journals and had presented extensively in international conferences. He also contributed chapters on endocrine emergency in leading Emergency Medicine textbook.

 

He was also the key person in producing standard operating procedures for hospital contingency plans as well as for the Ministry of Health. His area of interests are critical and emergency ultrasound, disaster medicine, high-altitude illnesses and medico-legal cases management.
